A baby is something you carry inside you for nine months, in your arms for three years and in your heart till the day you die.

long beach antique market.

{loved these upcycled succulent container gardens. visit crystal's blog to see more beautiful displays: succulessence}
There is something quite special about rising up a little bit earlier than my normal laid back Sunday morning routine, to get breakfast on the go (a poppy seed muffin & juice in my case) and head on out for a drive to Long Beach's antique market.

I met so many sweet, creative vendors, and scored quite a few pieces I was on the hunt for with the help of my husband, the bargainer, in this relationship of course. After spending many hours walking through what seemed like my very own treasure land, I left a happy thrifter. Next up is the rose bowl flea market.

banana bread.

This is my mama's banana bread recipe. Simple and sweet. Makes for a great breakfast with fresh fruit and a cup of tea. As most of you already know, baking some banana bread is a good way to save those browning bananas rotting away. Happy baking!

3 or 4 ripe bananas, smashed
1/3 cup melted butter
1 cup sugar (can easily reduce to 3/4 cup)
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon baking soda
pinch of salt
1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). With a wooden spoon, mix butter into the mashed bananas in a large mixing bowl. Mix in the sugar, egg, and vanilla. Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and mix in. Add the flour last, mix. Pour mixture into a buttered 4x8 inch loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour. Cool on a rack. Remove from pan and slice to serve.

secret stairs of los angeles: walk #37.

Walk #37: Hollywood Bowl & Hightower Loop
Distance: 2.6 miles
Steps: 421
Difficulty: 4

The more I open my eyes to the city of Los Angeles, I'm developing a little bit of love for the city's little secret gems. One of my recent favorites is the Secret Stairs, which consists of 200+ secret stairways and 40+ walks all across the city. The husband and I went on our first walk a few weekends ago and I have to say it was quite fun learning historical facts and taking in beautiful sights of the city that you have to climb/walk, or otherwise would be missed. I'm already excited for the next walk. This is definitely a new hobby of mine and I'd love to walk all the pathways!
